The West Kootenays of B.C. is the perfect climate for growing apples.
Hot summer days, cool evenings and mild winters with plenty of glacial fed water. The Arrow Lakes is also a great vacation spot and that is how our story began.
We bought an old farmstead, started some gardens, planted apple trees and each fall tested a new batch of cider. What began as a treat for family and friends has turned into a year round way of life.
In 2016 Burton City Cider was created and we are now crafting crisp, dry ciders for your enjoyment.

A Short History of Burton City
Barbara has provided the inspiration and hard work behind Burton City Cider. Barbara has served on the boards of many organizations so is now taking the big picture thinking into the day to day of making cider and starting a business.
Alan changes from desk to skid steer seat with incredible ease and has relished the satisfaction that hard work brings to the orchard and grounds around the Cidery. Alan is also flock master to the sheep the Ross’s have to keep the orchard mowed.
There is no cider without apples! Burton City Cider is also home to a few hives of bees. These bees are hard at work from early spring until fall when they are bedded down for the winter. The greatest challenge in keeping bees? Having them survive winter and mites! So while Barbara learns about cider she’s also been learning about bees..
